Emilio Ramirez Envinate
Benje Tenerife Tinto
Smelled funky, a bit like pee, even, at first, but taste was rich and full of pleasantly sour fruit and distinctly saline mineral. Light to medium bodied. Unique and enjoyable.

Mar 26th, 2021One of my favorite wines for the price point. Soft, bright berry-driven fruit (blueberry, cranberry, tart cherry, pomegranate), dried savory herbs, leather, black licorice, violet, black pepper, earthy spice; game, smoke, and charcuterie. Gentle acidity and rocky minerality keep it lifted and lively.

I love this wine. So much ground pepper and chimney smoke on the nose. It’s like walking around on a rainy or snowy winter day and smelling the sweet perfume of your neighbors chimney. I almost totally dislike the white Listan Blanco Benje. I find that tired and lacking acidity and just tired. I prefer this wine to the more expensive Migan. Migan had more reduction and ethyl acetate on the nose and okay okay it’s more Pinot Noiresque but I don’t need a wine from the Canary Islands to be like a Pinot Noir. #listan #listannegro #canaryislands #spain

Oct 26th, 2022Entry level Envinate from Tenerife. Old vines Listan Prieto. Light in color with a smoky, spicy nose. Crunchy red fruit, volcanic rock and minerals. Brief finish but oh so drinkable. Great qpr. ABV 12%.

Jul 3rd, 2021Unmistakably an island wine per @Jim Wagonfeld. Smoky berries, soft fruit, tobacco, slate/mineral, ash, light acid & tannin on the finish. @Alsu Shakirova says smashed berries on asphalt. Easy.
