Deep ruby coloration. On the nose, dark berries. Leather. Some plum. On the palate, full bodied. Dark berry, plum, spice, anise, vanilla, some chocolate. Longer finish. Lush mouthfeel. Very surprising wine at a lower dollar purchase. Great value table wine. Pretty balanced on the palate with still a hint of tannins present.

It's kind of a strong dolcetto... First red flag, the cork broke while I was pulling it. For a 5 year old wine it's a bit concerning. It screams poor vertical storing conditions... I thought at first that there was some TCA taint but the wet cardboard scent went away after a very short while. The nose starts with some heat, some leather, some cherry notes along with cherry liqueur. There is also some burnt brown sugar scent in there. The palate is rather full and shows some length, with decent acid drive, some width, some cherry notes. The mouthfeel is grippy and evolves into a nice, drying tannic wall in the rear, that tends to be borderline overpowering in the end. The finish is made of cherry, a bit of heat, that dry leather that turns into borderline unbalanced bitterness in the end. Well this is not very balanced not very pleasing as it is, but its alleged poor storing conditions probably didn't help.
