Barolo Nebbiolo

Perhaps the most interesting & intriguing older wine/Barolo I’ve had in memory. It showed its tannin profile and fruit. Tart and just gently sweet cherries, tomato leaf, soft, almost sweet tarriness, light tobacco & leather. Group intrigue. Special.

I didn’t decant this and the opening night glass still showed it had legs.

Birth year wine.

When we can back to it at the end of the night, it had added weight and complexity. Definitely a heady wine & a special experience.

Magnificent at 55 years. Fantastic fruit and acid balance- so perfectly balanced, I'll bet it's got another 20 years . Impressive and 100 pts in my book

Smoking black tea and roses.

Pretty cool for 53 years old. Fruit still hanging on with a great herbal tone. It gained weight as it got air over the course of a three hour dinner.

Cool wine! Little over the hill and sherry-esque but still plenty of dried fruit, truffles, and black tea to make it enjoyable.

Incredíble youthness for a 54 year wine. Evolved and changed like a chameleon for over 3 hours, from delicate decayed roses to intense red fruit aromas. How can it be???
