love frankland river Riesling but this bottle was off. nose was enchanting whilst the palate lolly gagging and flat. bit of seepage so suspect something went amiss in transit. bummer.

2013 is my daughter's birth year and tonight, to celebrate the end of the summer season, I wanted to pop something cool and tasty. This frankland Estate Single vineyard Riesling from more than 10 years ago is something special. The nose is petroly at first, but shows white fruit notes like pear and peach and some zesty notes too. This has seen some oak too, it seems, as there is a tiny vanilla note lurking in the back and showing as well in the finish. The palate shows a great acid drive, some nice peary and zesty notes all along, some width, some nice, chalky mouuthfeel that changes in the back to leave almost a tannic, drying layer, before a great, long, fresh and complex finish made of pear, lemon zest, that drying layer, that vanilla note and a bit of thzt zing which makes great riesling awesome. Wow, what a ride!
