Really liked this one. All the things you’d want from a Cabernet from the region mix of berry and mint and currant flavours on the palate but the nose offers more. Really enjoyable and fabulous value. — 3 years ago
Spicy and peppery, even a bit smoky, with rich dark red cherry and baked blueberry flavors — 2 years ago
Love the flavour. Could do with couple more years to develop just a slightly smoother finish on palette. — 3 years ago
Nice red, cheap — 3 years ago
Outstanding. The bottle is far too small!! — 3 years ago
Initial impressions were mint, capsicum and herbs. Savoury winning out over fruit. More red currant rather than black currant Barb thought. Expected a little more mid palate fruit which is one of the reasons that Margaret River Cabernet is more complete than the cooler climate Frankland River (south east of Margaret River) where this is the product of a single vineyard. Don’t get me wrong this is still a wonderful Cabernet which honours the amazing contribution of Jack Mann who made wine for Houghtons for 51 consecutive vintages. — 3 years ago
Petrol notes on the nose and palate. Some citrus lemon and bright acidity. Juicy medium bodied dry Riesling. Love it! — 5 years ago

2013 is my daughter's birth year and tonight, to celebrate the end of the summer season, I wanted to pop something cool and tasty. This frankland Estate Single vineyard Riesling from more than 10 years ago is something special. The nose is petroly at first, but shows white fruit notes like pear and peach and some zesty notes too. This has seen some oak too, it seems, as there is a tiny vanilla note lurking in the back and showing as well in the finish. The palate shows a great acid drive, some nice peary and zesty notes all along, some width, some nice, chalky mouuthfeel that changes in the back to leave almost a tannic, drying layer, before a great, long, fresh and complex finish made of pear, lemon zest, that drying layer, that vanilla note and a bit of thzt zing which makes great riesling awesome. Wow, what a ride! — 3 months ago
