Don't sleep on Viognier! Incredibly under appreciated (and undervalued) in the United States. Freemark Abbey makes a solid, crowd pleasing example. It's not Chardonnay, and it's not Sauv Blanc, and that's exactly what makes me excited about it. It get honeysuckle, pear, and lemon peel. Cheers!

The nose is vaguely reminiscent of viognier, though not nearly as floral as what I expect. On the palate I found a roundness to the wine that implied French oak. This was partially fermented in small french oak casks and the rest in stainless steel so I pat myself on the back for that. It's not a bad wine, but not very stylistic of viognier.

Medium body for a viognier and slight creaminess and light oak. Great with too flavourful or spicy Asian food. Well we actually served it with smoked duck jalapeño pickled daikon tacos and fried garlic yuba spinach salad

A bit more dry than expected. Lingering, pleasantly evolving finish is what makes it interesting.
