Tim Kirk, the owner and winemaker said at the time it was the best Shiraz Viognier he had ever made for what is considered the benchmark for this blend in Australia. 98 points from HH and 18.5 points+ from Jancis. Opened just prior to dinner. The 2008 Coteau de Vernon pours a deep straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of peach cup with the pears and cherry too. There’s white flowers, honey, fresh mint and other herbs too. Wow! On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and oily. This bottle came across young. A benchmark Condrieu. Drink now through 2038. — 4 months ago
