1978: Borrowing a Madeira term, bottle sick nose. However, the wine itself was concentrated and reminiscent of grilled meat. Worked well with the meal, although out matched this evening. Bonus: this meant we also opened the 1980. Therefore, I loved this bottle!

Based on visual inspection this vintage still shows great concentration of color, however this particular bottle was not good—VA and mousey unpleasant aromas.
