This was my contribution. I’m a big fan of Benoit’s wines and was intrigued by this blend of 50/50 cab/petite sirah. I believe the cab fruit is from Beckstoffer Bourn vineyard.

Inky purple in the glass! Followed over two days...both days had aromatics that just oozed juicy blueberries and blackberries accompanied by currant, and pepper crusted rhubarb. Lighter than expected on the palate (in a good way). Starts out like a cab with notes of baked mixed berry pie. Dark in profile. Petite Sirah comes through in the middle and finish showing scorched earth and charcoal with the fruit balancing it out. Dark fruit and black pepper core encapsulated by tart black cherries. For this being half petite sirah, I agree that it’s shockingly semi accessible at this stage.

@Martin G Rivard - this was awesome! Popped the cork and it was good to go though it got even better with air and singing on day two. 50/50 PS/CS, the nose is full of florals, bright red fruit (cherries, raspberries) and a hint of leather. On the entry, the red fruit dominates with hints of spice providing a nice balance. It’s silky smooth with the typical Petite Sirah drying tannins on the long finish. I really, really enjoyed this wine - completely my jam and another hit from Benoit - thank you again Martin! Love Kata and was thrilled to get to try this!

Under rated this wine in April or maybe it matured at little.
