Riserva Monfortino Barolo Nebbiolo

This is a legendary wine and it is obvious why... A real beauty. Just stunning. Tea and dry cherries but it is the burst of flavor that makes this so special. It lasts forever and has a fascinating complexity. Could not ask for more in a wine.

Definitely on its way out, but still showing some signs of life. Serious spice and leather on the nose but not showing a ton of depth on the palate. Little glimmers of red fruit and surprisingly lively acidity. Not remarkable, but cool to drink 50 yr old juice that isn't totally dead nonetheless.

Stunning. Great provenance and just singing. Unfortunately, my last bottle.

This seemed a decade younger than the 61. More on the mid palate. Beautiful, only suffered by comparison (but not much!)

This is lovely. A classic stinky old Barolo nose. Gobs of sour, dried fruit with great savory depth and length. Character, age and great class.

Suspiciously cloudy but great fruit hidden underneath. Monfortino brava
