Mid crimson in colour. Aromas of cherry with caramel (oak) notes. On the palate great intensity - great balance of primary red fruits and earthy notes. Amazing quality for the price of $50. Tastes like a $100 Pinot. From the excellent 2017 vintage in the Yarra. Medium acid to finish off. Of all of the individual cuvées of Giant Steps, Applejack Vineyard has always been my favourite. Most impressive. Excellent potential.

Apr 28th, 2018Deep ruby. There is deep red fruit on the nose, combined with a strong umami, toffee, and mealy note. Strawberry shortcake? Med bodied, with crystal clear fruit clarity. Strawberry all day, with some mushroom. Well balanced, so well integrated. Not for the long haul but singing now. Fabulous.

Oct 8th, 2019Everything in its right place. It’s understated and lean at this youthful stage, but opening up with some air. The acid is just right, the tannins fine and the mouthfeel spot on. It lingers. Very curious to see how this develops.
