Sep 19th, 2019I don’t drink 25 year old wines very often but tonight I am trying this gem. As I decanted this wine (had a slight problem with cork I immediately began detecting a very nice hint of cinnamon and red fruit. Deep ruby with a brick meniscus around the edge. Juicy flavors of boysenberries, cranberries, and blueberries with a slight hint of bell pepper. The tannins were very refined with a very slight bit of grip on the the finish. Nice acidity. The finish seemed a little truncated, probably due to its age. All in in all a very nice wine.

So much life left in this unassuming wine. Bright aromatics with cherry and tobacco on the palate with the barest hint of barnyard. A big surprise.

Had the 1994 on xmas eve 2014. Expected more for a 20yr old wine; still has good flavors

Dec 25th, 2014Not bad for a 20 yr old. Has fruit has an old nose, but not funky. Opens after about 20 mins. Some tannins. But velvety.
