Reserve Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
One of the best 2011 Napa Cabernets I have experienced. Well-structured with noticeable length.

Palate is a big rush of flavor fluctuating between fruit, chocolate, earth, and spice. Chewy tannin like licorice candy, mouth filling and finishes for minutes. Chyeaaah.

Beautiful and elegant on the nose, with blackberries, blueberries, oak, vanilla, licorice, plums, cherries, strawberry pie, spices and black pepper.
Full bodied, smooth and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with black currants, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, licorice, cloves, earth, dirt, leather, spices and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with firm tannins and cherries.
This is a Nice, Napa Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, from Oakville. Still young, but very enjoyable now. However, it needs a few years in the bottle to smooth out the kinks, and become better.
Nicely balanced and complex.
There's a spice, that I didn't like on the palate, though. Couldn't figure out what it is.
Not the best vintage, but holding good. A bit expensive, though.
Good by itself or with food, barbeque would be great here. I paired it with a plate of hard, fatty cheeses and nuts.
14.7% Alcohol by volume.

I'm partial to Oakville, but this is coming along very well. Took over two hours to finally open up, but when it did, it revealed a beautiful bouquet.

May 31st, 2015Pretty nose with dark fruit and a hint of sweet vanilla. Supple tannins support the dark fruit that repeats on the palate along with a hint of spice. More elegance than power.

Feb 26th, 2024Really hard to rate this one. Tasted different each day after opening. Intense vegetable the first day and nearly undrinkable. Then earthiness on the second day. Days 3-5 mellowed into a Bordeaux taste.
