Hermann J. Wiemer
Finger Lakes Dry Gewürztraminer
NOSE: Melon, flower nectar, lychee, papaya. Distinct mint - Wintergreen (??). A little pine sol. Huh! Smell keeps changing, a lot going on here.
TASTE: basically as it smells … tropical fruit and flowers with a dash of pine sol and mint. There’s almost an artificial sugar taste … mouthwash-like. Weird! 89.

A decent wine but not in the class of prior vintages. Clear light gold color. Nose is very fruit forward featuring lychee and green melon with some mineral notes. This bottle did not have much in the way of the typical Gewurtztraminer floral aromas at all. Pallet was also fruit driven (lychee, pear and green melon) but there not much of that traditional Gewurtztraminer spice. Quite sweet for a wine designated as “dry.” (More an off-dry or semi-sweet wine). Hoping this is merely a “one off” bottle/vintage and not a trend.
