Hess Family Wine Estates
Allomi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Demi bottle. Damn good stuff- almost convinced me that some mainstream Napa cab lives up to it's reputation.
Complex finishes and subtleties, more there than most.

Sep 26th, 2020A smooth drinking Napa cab with a juicy black fruit core and sweet undertone. A bit tight.
I was curious to find out how Hess can make a single vineyard Napa bottling at such an attractive price. The fruits came from their estate vineyard at Pope valley, which definitely is not in the valley by looking at the map but somehow was qualified. The land is much cheaper there. And since Pope Valley is not a sub AVA, it’s labeled Napa Valley. Probably make marketing sense anyway.

Deep ruby purple color wine. Medium viscosity. Lots of red berries on the nose. Big dark red berries on the palate. Very jammy but not overripe fruit. Some cloves present. Tobacco and oak on the finish. Dry wine. Medium acid. Petit Syrah really shines through on this wine. This is a buy and drink now through 2023. Not sure it will get much better.
