At first sniff I felt old school Rioja vibes but the earthy quality is different. Dark, sweet cherries. Plums. Swisher sweet pipe tobacco aromas and garden tarragon. Tannins have chilled but still present.

Wow. A reminder that I need to drink more Aussie Shiraz. Show stopping aromas of baked, spiced, black plum, campfire smoke, blackberries and black currant, date, bay leaf, licorice, cedar, leather, mocha, eucalyptus, with the slightest hint of something raw, feral and a little filthy that I like in my Syrah, but that most new world examples miss. Round, full and silky on the palate. A powerful, riper and higher alcohol expression of Syrah for sure, but balanced and exquisite as the best big wines are.
