One of my favorites of the evening and from a founding family member of the Special Club wines. Made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir that sees full malolactic fermentation. This is classic Champagne at its best, a true, natural and excellent representation of the mastery of good farming practices and sound viniculture methods.

Nose is herbal, saline. Red fruit on palate segues to earth, wet stone, breakfast pastry. Enjoyable but I would have liked personally to have seen a little more acidity.

Nose that hints at lemon curd, lemon oil, pear and green apple fruit with a subtle yeast, warm bread dough accent. As bubbles receed, there is a lovely floral red fruit element. Still bright on the palate with just a hint of lessy age to the floral apple, red current flavors.

A horrific day is coming to a close. This beautiful 2006 champagne is consoling. Fresh crisp apples with your typical champagne aroma. As Napoleon said: In victory you deserve champagne, in defeat, you need it
