Jean-Luc Colombo
Les Ruchets Cornas Syrah
Nose has a strong mint leaf (almost tooth paste like) and strangely bay leaf. Follows through with a wonderfully tailored, bruised and ever so slightly over ripe black berry fruit, sweet clove and cinnamon even some graphite.
In the mouth this is less impressive and seems rather four square on the front, by no means bad, just bland. Gets interesting on the finish with a soft but firm, rather suave finish, not singing today.

Very oaky but very nice. In Bordeaux downtown at the oldest restaurant in the city.

Sep 12th, 2017This wine right in its wheel house. Decanted for 60 min. The nose has aromas of mint along with smoked meats and dark fruits. Blackberry, smoked meats, stewed vegetables, and some old worn leather (in a good way). Medium body and the tannins have softened nicely. Very good.
