Jean-Marc Burgaud
James Côte du Py Morgon Gamay
Deep purplish red in color. Light to medium body. Medium nose with currant, sour cherries, and red fruit. Mouthfeel is light and tart with bitter melon finish. A bit tight in structure with decent fruit and medium tannins. Medium low alcohol. Slight old world green vegetables and terroir. Medium acid.

Aug 28th, 2019Not as brilliant for me as the JMB 2015 or 2016 cote du py but lovely wine still. Bright but stewy cranberry sauce and cherries dominate when opened. Same/similar lush purple color as more recent years. Med body. Med+ acidity. Lacked a nice tannic bit until 30-45 mins in decanter. Then it became more complex and showed a mild but enjoyable and long lasting dry effect. Recommended experience for cru Beaujolais fans but noticeably lagged the ‘15 and ‘16 for me.

Apr 19th, 2018Complex fruity nose and hints of mints and spice. Forest and acidic minerals balance on palate. Like a Burgundy! Long spicy finish. Says stones. More rich. $27. Gordons tasting.
