Nice berry explosions in my mouth... lots of tobacco, allspice, a bit of firewood on the nose. It’s tannins are super prominent and I think this will drink better in a few years. Sitting next to a two pound tomato. Size matters in this house. This would fall into the approachable "new world" style Bordeaux. 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet, and 5% Cab Franc. Straight up blackberries, black currants, and Christmas fruit cake on the nose. But, the herbal characters of black pepper, ground allspice, and bay leaf dominate. The "old world" part of the wine shows with wet gravel, soaked dirt, and sandalwood. The finish ends on a bitter dusted dark chocolate note. I'm really feeling it's featherish weight and fine grained tannins. Acidity makes sure to touch all parts of the palate. Good power without taking over the night.
