The fruit on the nose veers toward sour but still has jammy notes to it. Black pepper and chervil and other herb notes also are present, but the fruit goes tart on the palate, and the pepper and herbs take a backseat. Joseph Swan is a favorite producer of zinfandel of mine, but this Bastoni Vineyard version is not my favorite.
