Light medium ruby , with a wide ruby , pink rim . Quite sweetly fruited nose with rose , spiced red cherry , ripe raspberry , strawberry , and a hint chalk dust . On the palate this is quite fresh and vital still, focused on the light , ripe red fruits on the palate , touch of crunchy redcurrant , raspberry , strawberry. Fresh acidity and slightly chalky tannins . Medium minus chalky , red currant , raspberry tinged finish . This is still pretty young and fresh, slightly angular though and may well show even better in a couple of years and will last well a further 5–8. For a basic Pommard this is quite well made and enjoyable .

Muted nose, rustic style, earth and spice. This wine should be paired with flannel and a fire. I’m never going camping (again), but if I were I would bring this wine.

2016 Justin Girdarn Pommard. 100% Pinot Noir. Pommard comes from three sites, “Les Vignots, “Les Cras,” and “Les Cote.” Côte de Beaune.
