Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds.
This won the most unique aromatics of the night! Ben was spot on when he mentioned he smelled sweet potato! Traditional WA/OR Syrah notes of funk, olive and bacon with black pepper spice. Mainly juicy black cherries and older baked rhubarb were the fruits I was picking up. Fun wine. Thanks @Jack Thompson

Sep 11th, 2019100% Tempranillo. Unusual to find this varietal in Washington State, but it is really terrific. Ripe Dark cherries, plums and currents. Smokey spices, mushroom and licorice notes. Full bodied but elegant. Tannins are soft and polished. A great surprise.
