Interesting wine from #southafricanwine #southafrica but #pinotage is an invader grape and it permiates through this blend too much in my opinion. And yet interesting invention and has freshness and texture

Mostly Pinotage with same Cab Sauv and Merlot. Tastes very unique... I’m interested to see how it will be day 2.

Get ready for smoked wood chips. After that comes the weird vegetation that I always associate with S Africa: brambly, dirty fruit that just makes me think untrained bush vines combined with some stems in the crush (the alcohol pushes through a bit too). The palette displays that same smoked wood up front, with the brambled fruit to follow. Also notes of ink, earth and a funky spice I can’t quite nail down. It’s a different kind of experience, but worth trying for yourself. Definitely a food wine, and refined tannins for such a young wine.

Medium to deep garnet red. A touch of cheese, herbaceous notes and red cherries. A touch metallic on the palate with light plus to medium bodied. A bit meaty too. Moderate tannins (5.5/10) and medium finish. Drink till 2020.

Dark maroon color with perfume aromas of red fruits, cedar, and thyme on the nose. Full-bodied together with fresh and delicious flavors of red cherry, plum, sweet dried banana, and Asian herb and spice like sweet basil & pepper on the palate. Dry, silky & smooth tannins, and mild spicy & soft medium length on the finish. Color is clearly darker than 2009 vintage I drank years ago, but the flavors and mouthfeel are very similar. Still my favorite from South Africa.
