Kistler
Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
Deep, dark, holding on to high but balanced tannins. Pleasantly impressed with fruit/wood ratio. Perfumed nose and not showing much heat.

Apr 16th, 202017yrs in and I am fairly surprised at how elegant this is. I loved the nose on this. Blood orange, crunchy cranberry and old black cherry, with beautiful baking spices. It’s still retaining good acidity, showing cedar, red and black fruits and herbal twang on the palate. Slightly clipped finish, but it’s 17yrs old! Wonderful for its age. Thanks @Dan Fitzgerald .

The palate is; full, round, ripe, dark and lush. Ripe & slightly sour dark cherries, blackberries, blueberries, plums, dry cranberries, raisins, boysenberries, black cherry liqueur quality, toast, black tea, limestone soil, touch of turned black earth, black tea, underbrush, softest presence of faint baking spices; cinnamon, nutmeg, clove & even fainter vanilla with suede type leather. The finish is well structured & elegance, nice balance of fruit & earth, round & lush with acidity the pours and drips over the palate. Interesting note, their Sonoma vineyard is a place where the North American continent ends abruptly in ragged, vertical cliffs and the San Andreas Fault runs directly or very near the underfoot of vineyard. Photos of the beautiful rolling Sonoma Coast vineyard, soil composition and aerial shot of Kistler.

Jan 25th, 2015Stunning and impressive for a 12 year old blend. Great fruit purity with a long finish with just a touch of spice on the final taste. Great juice.
