Ruby red with moderate plus intensity. Quite a bit of acidity and red berries. Some blue berries on the nose. Moderate tannins (7/10) and moderate plus bodied. Try again on day two.

Day two: nose has some graphite and stewed berries. Light dryness on the finish. Some herbaceous notes too and sage. Missing something in the mid-palate. Medium plus finish.

Always a treat to enjoy the pre-sale Ladera Howell Mtn Stiles block Cab. Inky blue in the glass. Age worthy with notes of graphite, slate and the all the blueberry and black fruits. Tannins have softened. Bottle age has treated this well. Easily stands another 3-5 yrs.

I had this in January, and it was just ok. I had it now and it was pretty good. Had some hints of earth on the nose, and earthiness on the finish. It smoothed out pretty well. If you are looking for big fruit, this is not what is happening.

Needs to decant. Opened up after an hour. At first bone dry, once decanted and allowed to breath berry started to show through.
