L'Aventure
Estate Cuvée Willow Creek District Red Blend
Well dang. Very good. Very good thank you @Paul Treadway Huntington Beacher for sending my way. I figured a night of staging as a somm at a top dtla restaurant deserved this at the end. It was Riesling all night there so I figured I would go Paso Robles at home to go to sleep. This is luscious. Yet dry. Still keep checking the label to see if Merlot factors in as the smell of plums jumps out at me but no...it is Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot. As luscious as a wine can get and still be dry and still a smidgen (+) tannic. I could have held this another several years and I think it would have grown. Very good. Pleasant. Not complicated which is either good or bad pending your mood. I want to taste more L'Aventure. This was the first of their offerings I had.

Sep 14th, 2017Big and complex. This has so many flavors. Very enjoyable. We also tasted a 2010- which certainly illustrates the value of age on this. It was fantastic.

Jul 19th, 2017Legit.
Inky, opaque and grips the glass. It's just a baby, but the nose is extremely expressive. On the nose: cedar, raspberry, graphite, smoke, grilled meat, kirsch, molasses, sweet pickled hibiscus. On the palate starts a bit sweet and dark cherry driven. A bit hot, but less than expected. It's grippy and mouthfeel goes from velvety tannins to a bit aggressive. Finish is long, leaves an impression of quality well over the pricepoint.
Highly recommended. Classic.

Aug 10th, 2016Very nice and well balanced. It has a nice herbal aspect that plays off beautifully against the fruit. Very nice.

Oct 8th, 2018Really nice nose. Crushed violet and touch of herbs. On the palate, this is dense. More classic/elegant on opening. Not lush sweet, but lots of dark fresh fruit that give a sense of lushness (not jammy or stewed). Wet rock/minerals/graphite. Drying tannins on the end, which allows the fruit to jump out in the mid palate. Got a lit bit of savory, which now makes sense now that i see there is some syrah in it. 98 points parker
Update: didnt take as much air time as i thought. We took the last glass home and it was very nice. So a short decant is probably fine
