A new producer for me from the Yarra Valley recommended by Prince Wine Store. Mid plus to dark Ruby red. Aromas of bright red and black cherries with spice (cloves), pepper and dried herbs. A note of dried meat. A medium weight palate. Very different to the Barossa and McLaren Vale. I believe that the Yarra Valley does Cabernet best but they also produce great Syrah in the Northern Rhone style and this is an example. Had another bottle 50 weeks later on the 15th April 2023. Consistent notes to last year. A really excellent example of a Northern Rhone Syrah. Loved it. Had my last bottle on 7th December 2023 with similar notes. Meaty and peppery. Barely medium weight. Very northern Rhone. I should look out for future vintages.

This is such a good LL release. Cool climate Shiraz / Syrah at its very best. So good.

Medium light body. Very refreshing however to my palate it was a touch green. It might settle over time as it did recede a touch with air over two days.

Green! Vegetal! Stemmy! Okay, maybe an overreaction, but it’s a big change of gear from my previous wine and it’s super young, from a cool climate. Now the cloves and black pepper come through. Upon tasting it, things are better balanced: chewy blackberry with a more subtle vegetal character, and now the green capsicum aromas are sitting more neatly underneath the cloves. I’d like to see it in a couple of years.
