Maison Bleue
Voyageur Yellow Jacket Vineyard Syrah
Holy cow is this good. Nose features tons of all kinds of warm, smoky rock dust. There’s peat, sweet spices, and rich, pure red, blue, purple, and black fruit. In a word, the nose is complex. On the palate the initial attack is mouthfilling, but it’s in the mid-palate that it shines, with great flavor density (not weight) and softness. The finish is very long. Tannins are abundant but very soft. Medium acids (The Rocks District is known for lots of things, but brights acids aren’t one of them; I think the basaltic terroir has something to do with that.) Just outstanding.
