RL and I were totally thrown off by this blind. We were right on a Bordeaux blend, but got to give credit to ourselves for thinking it might not have been French due to a sheen of varnish on the fruit. I was right on the Super Tuscans (pretty close in some sense) before it was revealed to be a Chianti. What! Having said all that, it might have been the addition of 10% Cabernet Sauvignon in the wine that misled us.
Wine of the night for most on the table and I can see why. By the end of the night, it was crunchy with lifted dark fruits, cedar, herbs, leather, and some mineral tones. Still a little too rich and concentrated for me at this stage, but there’s definitely some underlying energy present.
