A very elegant and refined Shiraz, more medium-bodied than full-bodied, but missing a little of that iconic Hunter Valley character. Mouthwatering blueberry and plumb flavours predominate on the palate with a mild earthy undertone, subtle cured meat flavours and a mild spicy bite. The tannins are fine and dusty and well integrated after a 3 hour decant, with the French oak barely perceptible. The balance impeccable. A very nice wine, but it just had me searching for some missing complexity with each mouthful.
