Clos de Mez Fleurie Gamay

Big. grapey nose with tons of earth and floral notes. Palate is big and brawny and exceptionally juicy with tremendous depth and velvety but sweet tannins and finishes with tons of cranberry fruit. Very dense with noble tannins and big structure. Let’s see what air does. But very very fine.

Took a bit of a gamble given the rep for being very long lived. Opened t-8 hours and decanted 3+ hours. Still quite closed. You can get a sense of the depth of the fruit on the nose but overall it is veiled. The tannins are serious. Would never have guessed Beaujolais- one to let rest for many years.
