Semi surprised at the reviews here, but it seems most enjoyed this wine young, and this needs time. At 6yrs, while I enjoyed it, I could see this cruising at this drinking window for at least 5-7yrs more. The aromatics are more savory in style...black pepper/peppercorn dusted blackberry and plum. Chalky and smoky with graphite too. The front and mid palate show more fruit notes of currant and mulberry but the finish turns back to savory with tobacco and bacon. Really nice bottle from @Mark Flesher

A bit too hot and out of balance.

Big, brawny, and more than a bit beefy. Dark purple with a nose of old cigars, bacon grease, and vanilla. Big ol' palate of smoked meat and white pepper. Tons of smoke, along with some dried herbs, and funky dirt. Not a lot of fruit here but you'll discover plums and black cherries eventually. The 15.5% puts out quite a bit of heat. Maybe too much heat. As tasty as this is, I'm not really getting Syrah so much. In the long run that doesn't matter because you should probably drink this.

Substandard wine. It was beyond ripe... tasting it blind you couldn't guess it was Syrah. It had no varietal characteristics, yet it wasn't not hot, but way too flashy on the oak (Taransaud Ref. 112), I'm guessing almost 100% new oak. 😬

Love a big bold terroir driven Syrah and while this is varietally correct it's lacks the umpff. Nose of sugared dried figs and violets; slight smokiness. Structure in mid palate falls apart and finishes short with slight bitterness
