On to the reds. My first time with a full bottle , previously only had  “pours”. I am judging this wine for what it is vs what I prefer to drink. Clearly a new world wine but not a fruit bomb . Wonderful concentration of fruit on the nose and palate . Of course oak is there but it is handled perfectly. Alcohol is shy. A beautiful satisfying wine that is so easy to drink with our steaks. I would love to taste this with another 10 years in the bottle.

Velvety smooth but still underwhelmed me. Very dark color and a bit inward. Clearly an Italian expression of Merlot with earth and chewy fruit but I think I will sit on this a while longer next time.

This one is right up there with the 2006 IMO. Lots of horsepower and torque on top of pure silky tannins. Can’t do much better.

Serious tannin, very Italian in structure, plush midpalate, earthy, super complex and delicious
