On paper this PetNat red checks all the right boxes for me: a frizzante red (closet lambrusco lover), a low 12% abv, made from a non mainstream grape (Gamaret) and grown and bottled by a small producer.
But my first impression of taste (the yeast was so strong in my nose that I couldn't get any other impressions there other than 'just fermented grape must')
was of Abali the Iranian fermented yogurt drink.
So although it was interesting I did not find it truly enjoyable.

Great alternative to a Pinot noir. If you’re looking for a light, but interesting red, this wine is what you want. Funky, without the overwhelming scent and palette of an organic all natural wine. Approachable and enjoyable, a great wine to enjoy before opening up a big one.

May 16th, 2016A very soft orange pet nat. Loads of apricots. Quite cloudy. Full bodied. Doesn't have a strong tannic structure as such, not sharp, quite round and mouthful. Can easily drink on it's own.
