Moone. Tsai Wines
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

November’s 4th Friday was a big hit. There is no way I’ll be able to upload all the wines, nor give them the reviews they deserve, but there were a few worthy of mentioning!
Could not believe how good this was in terms of how open it was drinking. This is one of those wines that I would describe as sexy. Rich, opulent, and hedonistic like. This is plush and elixir like Napa cabernet in a really good drinking window. Baked blue and black fruits, nutmeg, baking spices and graphite on the nose. Sweet pipe tobacco, violets and milk chocolate drizzle over mixed berries. Looking forward to my visit in about 8 weeks. Thanks @Weston Eidson

Ready for some blatant honesty? This '12 Moone Tsai is drinking so well right now that I opened one yesterday...and another one tonight. Sure, MT's wines are known to age well, but to me this wine is peaking at this absolute moment. As in on August, 2 2016! Drink one right now, and thank me tomorrow...

It was great but the Myraid Cab was better and not as good as the last time I had it
Now that said I would not be embarrassed or kick it out of the bed (excuse the analogy in these days of #metoo) but just unfortunately had a stronger competitor last night
Still I think the wine is beautiful with a highly structured palette and silky tannins made it smooth but lacking in the boldness I wanted and the finish was not extraordinary
That said I love it and recommend it and even though it will cellar I am not sure it will get better so drink it if you got it
Big smiles last night

Today is my me and my wife's 1 year anniversary. No notes for this super awesome, special wine. It was Moone Tsai we drank at our wedding as a gift from Larry and MarryAnn Tsai, so it only seemed fitting to pull a Moone Tsai from the cellar and have a great 2012 to reminisce. Cheers to the rest of our lives. 😀🥂

A gift from Larry Tsai himself! Beautifully structured Cabernet.. red fruits galore on the nose, with a hint of cinnamon, and milk chocolate as it opens up in glass. Rich redcurrant on the pallet with a touch of pipe tobacco.. lovely stuff as always!

Incredible balance. Showing purity of fruit, but not over extracted. Particularly restrained given the vintage. Tannins are already softened, oak is relatively mild, heat isn't noticeable. Nice showing, will definitely try more of these.

I love Moone-Tsai (it's pronounced "Chai", by the way). For a Philippe Melka wine, I find them to be very under the radar. Their 2012s are exceptional - among the best in Napa Valley

The guys at Total Wine push this wine a lot. Finally gave in and tried a bottle. This is the 2012 and it's drinking great right now. There's a bit of spice on the nose and at the finish that keeps catching me by surprise, still undecided as to whether I'd buy another bottle, but very interesting and drinkable wine.
