Optio Vineyards Grenache 2020, San Luis Obispo, California

Inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Strong nose of red and black fruits with cedar, vanilla, spices, chocolates, tobacco, alcohol and black pepper.

Full-bodied, bold and elegant, with medium acidity.

Dry and very fruit forward on the palate with black currants, black plums, cherries, licorice, cedar, light vanilla, chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 5 year old Grenache from San Luis Obispo county in California is drinking very nicely now. Rich and extracted. Complex and engaging.

I had this vintage a few years ago, and it is drinking better now, and probably at its peak. Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 years.

Good right out of the bottle, tangy and interesting. In your face kind of wine, and a good sipping wine.

A tiny production of less than 1,000 bottles.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$60.
