The palette, while rich, is not as flamboyant as it was in its youth. Black stone fruits meld with anise and a hint of cloves. Finishes dense and a touch sweet. Wifey rated this as 93 pts. Rhone blend with deep fruit aromas with a hint of vanilla. The wine opens nicely to deep plum and cherry with a smooth floral finish. Not overly tannic. Definitely benefits from a little breathing. Pairs well with a salty snack, sultry summer evenings, and bay breezes.
