Great riesling with some age on it. Canned peaches, honey, smoke, honeysuckle, lime candy. Acidity has dropped a little as well as the RS. Mouth coating and very drinkable

14 years old but you would never know it from the nose. Petrol heavy, and showing more fresh fruit than expected. Lemon peel, honeysuckle, peach fuzz, and walnuts. Palate shows more of what I anticipated - dried apricot, canned peach and heavy florals. It's undoubtably lost some acidity over the years, but for a ($12!!) 2002 Riesling, can you really complain?

Paired nicely with an almond pear French Tart for dessert. An "old world" treat.

On the downside. Fruit has lost its vibrancy and the acid lacks snappy freshness. Nice wine, but past its peak or the cork failed. I can only imagine how incredible it could have been.

The years have been kind to this wine. It is dry and finely etched with hints of peaches, petrol, and purple sweet tarts. Riesling is indeed a Noble grape.

Jan 21st, 2016With nearly 500 years of practice, Schlossbockelheimer Konigsfels knows how to put together a great and affordable Riesling Kabinett. This 2002 is excellent. Very pleased to be finishing our risotto for dinner tonight using this wine in the broth, and microplaning a black Tuscan truffle over the top.

Fading a bit, lacks layers or nuance but clean and easy to drink. Perhaps straightforward but at $12 for a 10+ year bottle who's to complain...

Sweet, so too sweet. An OK sweet reisling but more like apple juice without the petrol or acidity we hoped for.
