Better than previous bottle by a little. More life and fruit, with some sweetness. Nice depth and improved finish.

1hr+ decant. Very similar to the ‘14 Pride I had the night before. Not as bright and less fruit as this was more rustic and floral. This has a lot of life left in it. Finish was shorter than expected.

I bought this bottle for US$40.00. Wow what a bargain for a rich smooth wine.

Oh mama. As explained to me, this is the ultra rare combination of the best of the best from Paul Hobbs. And was it good? Ab-so-freaking-lutely. Very rounded mouthfeel. Nose of ripe blackberry currant, spice, cedar. You could smell the wine coming out of the bottle from about 2 feet away. Entry was all perfectly mature black fruit. As full bodied as a wine can be. The middle showing a little bit of smoke, tar, black licorice, mulling spices. This one really was perfectly balanced. The finish was still pooped, but it was a rounder type of roasted tannin. Tons of black pepper on the finish. I have no doubt this one could hold 20 or 30 years as the bones are definitely here and this one is a dense, dark, perfect example of a new age Napa Cabernet.

Deep purple coloration. On the nose, dark berries(blackberry, blueberry, boysenberry), tobacco, cassis and florals. On the palate, blackberry, cedar, cassis, with complex, layered flavors with a long finish. Thick, rich, texture with strong tannins.
