Griffin's Lair Sonoma Coast Syrah

Now this is a very interesting and unique Syrah from Sonoma.

Stinky nose with lots of tar, chocolates and wood.

Full bodied and bold with nice complexity and very fruity on the palate.

Showing black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, vegetables, dark chocolates, tar, earth, peppercorn, bitter herbs and barnyard.

Powerful and rich. Very extracted and fruit forward.

This is definitely one of those "in your face" kind of wines. Not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.

Feels very young for a 9 year old.

I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

A small production of only 13 barrels. Unfiltered and unfined.

2013. Vintage still in a bruiser stage. Definitely see this aging gracefully for many years

Intensely herbal and savory. Velvety tannins and bright, piercing acid. Lots of life left. Perfect partner to roast chicken, particularly the legs 😋.

That whole range of lacy savory attributes that you expect of this site and that Pax is so damned good at revealing. Young but ever so good. I’ll pop my next bottle in 3 years.

Nariz: mora, frambuesa, cereza, pimienta, especies

Boca: seco, Tanino M+ aun robustos, acidez M/M+, Alcohol M. Largo.

Extraction. Elegance and power

Big bad short rib wine. 5 hour decant was massive help. Brought out more peppery and savory notes.

Powerful yet youthful. Another fine wine from Mr Pax.
