Pecchenino
San Luigi Dolcetto di Dogliani
Wonder value. This is a well made 100% Dolcetto created in stainless steel. Ruby red, fruity, good acidity, almond aftertaste. This is great for appetizers and pasta.

Sitting still, brett comes out on the nose a wee bit. Spin it clockwise, ya get some orange zest, clove; once it opens up a little, a granite-like aromatic, BLAH blah blah. Counter clockwise spin brings out a nice toasted almond aromatic. Palate has a nice fruit profile, containing bright red fruit with some "stony" character, along with an appearance of light almond in the back, but a somewhat hollow midpalate. Apparently the wine was macerated 10 days, and then never saw barrel hang time, just stainless steel aging. Separately, I think those concepts can "work," but I do believe the combo of them is shortsighted, and explains some of the problems with this wine, particularly the hollow midpalate. TA and pH numbers seem to be in good ranges from what I can taste. Wine Spectator gave this a 90. Got it for 18 bucks. Price is in the ballpark of what I think is worthwhile. Not here to age, not wine that is super complex, but a pretty decent wine that is rock-back-able. Good "night with friends" wine. I do think it's worth trying, so if you find it, buy it.
