2011 Vintage - about equal parts Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from throughout South Australia. The wines were agreed in a mix of new and old barrels, the used barrels having previously been first fill for Grange (Shiraz) and Bin 707 (Cab). Clear, nearly impenetrable inky purple with a clean yet heady bouquet of cedar and minerals. The nose is so highly extracted there is a sense the wine is concentrated. Some red floral notes and jammy cassis. The jammy impression cubbies on the palate for a very retro Aussie impression. There is far too much can in this to be convincing as a "Baby Grange" adobe have styled it - it's very much is own wine. Rich, unctuous and a bit heavy have it is made for a certain taste. Well made but alas it's too heavy for my taste - I can't imagine this matching with many foods.

Amazing bouquet and color. Right on the nose, dark fruit, wood possibly cedar, 51% Cab Sauv, 49% Shiraz. Taste confirms smell, nice medium-long finish. Delicious!

v17. Outstanding! Soft, dusty, smoked meat@nose. rich, jammy black fruits. Full, slightly astringent, zippy pepper and leather finish. Nicely finished.

May 14th, 2023Ended up accidentally buying this Baby Grange at Costco and exceedingly glad I did—medium weight but still intense, great fruit but not jammy, all in all a beauty.
