Perillo
Riserva Taurasi Aglianico
Perfect wine with steak. Aged just the right amount. Powerful Aglianico tasting of balsamic vinegar , licorice, and leather. A very long finish. Dark red fruit to start. A great Taurasi. Strong licorice-tinged nose. Likely not ready to drink before now. Rare find worth drinking, especially for only $65. Underrated here since the prior ratings were likely done too early after the vintage. As is typical of Taurasi, it requires 1 hour decanting and 14 years of aging.

1 person found it helpfulMar 27th, 2020Brilliant bottle of wine. Dark berry aromatics with a spicy edge & a denseness which keeps inviting the nose back to the glass to uncover more. Elegant, yet round palate with amazing depth and a range of flavors & textures. One of the best bottles of Aglianaco I’ve ever been fortunate enough to enjoy.

May 4th, 2020While the nose shows its regal side with ripe dark fruits and rustic profile, it’s the palate that shows its flamboyant character with high tone acidity punctuated by mint and hot spice and gripping tannins. A treat already but will be great in 5-6 years.
