Peter Lehmann
Stonewell Barossa Shiraz
Red and Black fruits. Coffee grounds from the oak. Plummy aromas. Not as luscious as many previous Stonewells and 2008 was a ripe and pretty good vintage in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Finishes with a little astringency. As HH said, a good but not great Stonewell.

May 25th, 2024See previous note from a year ago. More medium bodied than I recall from previous tastings. Plum flesh aromas and flavours together with dark chocolate. This wine is obviously old vine Barossa Shiraz and is Peter Lehmann’s flagship. Still plenty of power and energy which will see it through for several more years.

Jul 9th, 2023Concentrated Barossa Shiraz from a warm vintage. Ripe black fruits and dark chocolate on a full bodied palate. A little astringency from the tannins. Another rich Barossa Shiraz perfect for a cold winter. Second of 4 but I can’t see it changing much down the track.

Jul 10th, 2022Deep dark Ruby - almost Black with purple rim, even at 9 years. Pruney ripe notes, ripe plums, dark chocolate. Full bodied without the requisite complexity - perhaps because it was from a difficult hot vintage. "Fruit Bomb" comes to mind.
