This boxed two-pack of '97 PlumpJack Cabernet Sauvignon 'Reserve' came with one Cork Closure and one Stelvin Closure to compare their aging development. Both bottles tasted side-by-side had the same opaque ruby color, similar aromas of earthy cassis, menthol and toasty oak and comparable brawny flavors of black raspberry and currant. The screw-cap bottle, however, seemed richer, sweeter and fruitier, but with more tannic grip, while the cork version seemed softer, more evolved and slightly more complex. A most interesting experiment!

1997 Reserve Plumpjack for Christmas Dinner. This was part of a 2-pack of 1997 Oakville reserve Cab. - one with a Stelvins cap and one with a cork . This was the Stelvins screwcqp. I have not opened the other. Very fresh. Cocoa, coffee and eucalyptus (menthol).

Dec 26th, 2018Velvet in a glass. Exquisite nose packed with cocoa, coffee, and red fruit. Lush on the palate. One of the best wines I've had in a while.
