Brut Blanc De Blancs Champagne Chardonnay

The 2008 BdB Pol Roger has apples and lemon, and some Christmas stuffing characteristics too. Very open and inviting.

Bringing in the New Year quietly but happily, having spent the latter part of the day hanging art while a stew slowly cooked. Cara is 7+ months along so not really holding her own when it comes to Champagne, or any wine for that matter. Extra glasses for me...

Moved house today. Thankfully one only needs to do it on rare occasions. Unless you are a mover. Those guys worked like demons. A bottle of Pol Roger is an apt way to celebrate. The 2008 BdB is very giving right now. Zest and pears make for an attractive Champagne, though anything would taste great right now in my partially comatosed state.

A later day choice. Who knows what it tasted like? True.

Cramant, Chouilly, Le Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Oiry.

Clean, crisp, mineral and bready.

Incredibly fine and satisfying.

Golden apple, apple cider, pineapple juice, brioche.

Expected an understated presence so was taken aback to find the concentration, power and an oxidative style. Conjured images of Krug.
