Seen more then it's fair share of barrel time, this wine is a deep golden yellow hue, exhibiting heavy aromas of vanilla extract, & buttered popcorn. Big bodied & rich, with minor roles filled by ripened pears & pineapple. Complex, lengthy, & well made, but too much oak for my own personal taste.

Qupé’s Bob Lindquist wowed the crowd at a recent event with his 2013 Qupé Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard Reserve, Block Eleven, Santa Maria Valley. It’s very savory, has a lovely salinity.

Just not for me. Too much oak ruins the potential these Chardonnay grapes had. Burnt popcorn and butter dominate the flavor profile leaving little room for any other complexity to shine through.
