A sad tribute to what the great Raymond family grew and what Boisett tore down. Score of brilliant fruit obscured by heavy handed wine making. Obvious micro oxidation and oak chipping yields a quick sell flashy wine with no ageability. Another Boisset/Gallo hack job.

Ruby , but with quite garnet rim . Quite deep spiced nose , blackberry , liquorice , cassis , ground coffee and a wet stone , basalt quality . A little alcohol noticeable however . Quite rich , with cassis , chocolate , cherry pie , quite sweet tinge on the palate , with coffee and cacau finish . Misses a bit of freshness , quite sweet , velvety , though slightly dry tannins. Drink now , though will age ok over the 5-8 years . Quite a rich and sweet style , and lacks refreshment .
