Alpine Vineyard Pinot Noir

Gorgeous dense lean fruit. Very in place. Sophisticated. Polished dark plummy fruit with herbals and a good grout finish. Very well made.

A tasting of nine Rhys Pinot Noirs from the 2008 & 2009 vintages. Jeff Brinkman, Rhys winemaker joined our group. I thought this was slightly lean but still good.

Big, dark-fruited with some high tones of red and some white pepper, anise and meat to the point I thought it was cold climate Syrah at first. Over a day it warmed up, gave up some more candied notes. Layered, interesting, still quite firmly backboned. Give this some serious time. BTW no "smoke taint" to speak of

Thanksgiving wine.

Pure dark fruit and menthol, fairly tight at first but blossomed with air. Very good but still needs time and it has all the stuffing and structure it needs to benefit from it.

As classy as they come, who said California can't produce stellar, subdued, AND stunning Pinot Noir.

Needed a little time to open, and just a hint of brett, but excellent.

Polished w super fine tannin. Primary dark fruits with spice from the whole cluster ferment. Beautifully balanced
